Hi,
I always recommend my friends or colleges to install Centos Minimal and then install their desiered packages one by one which is the optimal for their works
But the problem here is that many packages even wget and nano are not installed by default on a Centos Minimal

So the only second favorite editors is vi editor which is by common the next most used one after nano at least as far as I know.
for configureing the network interface use the following with vi

vi /etc/sysconfig/network-scrips/ifcfg-eth0

in the above we have used the vi editor to edit the located eth0 configuration file
now the steps are like this
1-After opening the file with vi editor press i to make the file editable inside vi editor
2-now like any other editors edit the content
IPADDR=
NETMASK=
GATEWAY=
BOOTPROTO=static
ONBOOT=yes
3-after editing the file unlike the nano, you must turn on CAPS LCOK.PRess ESC, and press Z two times
it will be saved and exit

Now go to the /etc/resolv.conf and edit it as followes

nameserver 8.8.8.8
nameserver 4.2.2.2

now restart the network service

service network restart

your OS will accuire the ip address and bring up the network ETH0 interface with your configured ip address

Thanks
Woshka
